Man City and Sporting have both picked up seven points from a possible nine in the Champions League this season, but the Portuguese hosts are yet to face a team of City’s quality having played Lille, PSV and Sturm Graz so far.

Following their goalless draw against Inter Milan, Man City have claimed a 4-0 win against Slovan Bratislava and a 5-0 win against Sparta Prague. Pep Guardiola’s side won both halves of those games with Phil Foden scoring in both first halves.

The Citizens also dominated the corner count against those two clubs, with 15 corners to Slovan Bratislava’s 0 and seven corners to Sparta Prague’s one.

Despite their opening game in the Champions League ending goalless, City still had the better of the corner count in that game with four corners to Inter’s three. Guardiola’s side will be looking to respond after Saturday’s defeat to Bournemouth and should have enough to win both halves here.
