The bracket has been set, the odds have been released and the regional sites are being prepped. The Omaha Airport is about to experience its busiest time of the year. All of this can only mean one thing: the 2024 College World Series is almost here.
The 64-team field includes a plethora of power conference schools. The SEC brings a record 11 squads into the postseason, the ACC boats eight teams and both conferences have five regional hosts.

2024 College World Series betting odds and preview
This field includes last year’s champion (LSU), runner-up (Florida) and four other teams from the 2023 College World Series, as well as current powerhouses such as Tennessee and Texas A&M.
The latter two are the betting favorites with the Volunteers (+550) getting the slight edge, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Tony Vitello has coached many talented teams during his seven seasons in Knoxville, but the current SEC Tournament winner and regular season champion might be his best.
The Aggies (+600) have been on a bit of a skid lately, but make no mistake, Jim Schlossnagle has some serious star power in his lineup. The former No. 1 team is a pre-tournament favorite among sharps for a reason. Texas A&M losing early in the SEC Tournament only speaks to the talent within the conference, as opposed to being a knock against the Aggies.
The odds echo this reality.
The SEC has six teams that have odds shorter than or equal to 20/1 to win the College World Series at FanDuel. This includes the reigning national champions, the LSU Tigers.
LSU is one of six teams from Louisiana in the field, along with Grambling State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana Tech, Nicholls State and Tulane. Jay Johnson’s team squeaked into the postseason with a sweep of Ole Miss and a stellar showing at the SEC Tournament. The runners-up in Hoover have +2000 odds to repeat as champions as they seem to have found their groove as of late.
Similarly, the Florida Gators (+7000) are looking to make another deep run to Omaha. Both the Gators and the Tigers will have to reach the College World Series without the added benefit of home-field advantage as they start in the Stillwater and Chapel Hill Regionals respectively.
North Carolina represents one of the few serious non-SEC contenders, according to oddsmakers. The Tar Heels are one of two teams from other conferences with shorter than 20/1 odds to win the College World Series along with Wake Forest, who fell in the national semifinals in Omaha last season.
11 of the 16 regional sites will be hosted by schools outside of the SEC. East Carolina (+6000) is the only regional host that has longer than 50/1 odds to win a national title.
