talkSPORT betting tips – Best tennis bets and advice for French Open Sunday

With Iga Swiatek expected to dominate the women’s competition in Paris this year and a number of big-hitters flagging going into the men’s, this year’s French Open is a fascinating event.

The main-draw action at Roland Garros begins on Sunday and there are plenty of big names involved including Rafael Nadal and Aryna Sabalenka.

We have picked out a five-fold accumulator for the opening matches.

Zverev can begin title push with major scalp

With 10 wins from his 13 matches on clay this season, Alexander Zverev has to be considered a serious contender for the French Open title this year and he can make an early statement by beating the ‘King of Clay’ Rafael Nadal in the first round.

Nadal’s court time has been limited this year and he was comfortably beaten 6-1 6-3 on clay by Hubert Hurkacz in his most recent match.

Zverev, meanwhile, has reached the semi-finals of the French Open in each of the last three seasons and could be a title contender again this year.

Italian Open runner-up can strike again

Nicolas Jarry could not have asked for a better preparation for the French Open, having reached the final of the Italian Open earlier this month.

He took down Stefanos Tsitsipas and Tommy Paul on his way to the final and should ease to victory over Corentin Moutet.

Moutet made the round of 64 at the Italian Open before being thrashed by Novak Djokovic and he was toothless in the recent Challenger Turin event, losing his first and only match against Marc-Andrea Husler.

Cerundolo can get better of Hanfmann

Argentinian ace Francisco Cerundolo has won two of his three meetings with Yannick Hanfmann of Germany with all of those encounters coming on clay courts.

Hanfmann’s only success came last year in Hamburg when Cerundolo had to retire and the South American looks the stronger pick again.

Kalinina can build on Strasbourg success

It has been a busy week for Anhelina Kalinina, who heads to the French Open following an excellent run at the WTA Strasbourg event.

Kalinina took on Danielle Collins the competition’s semi-finals on Friday, having previously taken down top seed Marketa Vondrousova, and she is worth a bet in her French Open curtain-raiser with Camila Osorio Serrano.

Poor run set to continue for Stephens

It has been a testing couple of weeks for American ace Sloane Stephens, who has lost her last four singles matches in the Madrid Open, Italian Open, WTA 125K Paris and WTA Strasbourg events.

At the Italian Open, she was thumped 6-3 6-2 by Yulia Putintseva, who is a value pick to win again when the players reconvene in the first round of the French Open.
