The 2024 UEFA European Championship kicks off on Friday. Germany and Scotland get the tournament festivities underway from the Allianz Arena in Munich. Kai Havertz will get an early start in the Golden Boot race as one of the odds-on favorites looks to get on the scoresheet in the opening match.

Eight of the Top 10 teams in the FIFA World Rankings are participating in Euro 2024. Thus, some of the top talent football has to offer will be on display. This includes several of the most lethal finishers in the world, but which player is favored by oddsmakers to take home the Golden Boot?

France’s Kylian Mbappe is the betting favorite to win the Golden Boot at the 2024 UEFA European Championship

Unsurprisingly, France forward Kylian Mbappe is the betting favorite to win the Golden Boot at Euro 2024. He had a poor showing with zero goals and one assist in four games at Euro 2020. However, the new Real Madrid man won the Golden Boot at the 2022 World Cup, so there’s no reason to worry about his performances on the international stage.

Mbappe has +470 odds to be the tournament’s top goalscorer.

England No. 9 Harry Kane is the only other player with odds shorter than 10/1 to win the tournament’s Golden Boot. He was the top scorer at the 2018 World Cup, finding the back of the net six times. The Three Lions’ all-time leading goalscorer has netted six times at subsequent tournaments (four at Euro 2020 and two at the 2022 World Cup). He’s got +550 odds to bring home the award again.

Euro 2020’s Golden Boot winner, Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo, has the joint-third-best odds to retain his spot atop the scoring charts. The 39-year-old will be looking to get back into goalscoring form after he found the back of the net just once at the latest World Cup. Ronaldo’s +1400 odds are level with Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku.

Jude Bellingham and Havertz have the next-best odds at +2400. Both enjoyed fantastic seasons with Real Madrid and Arsenal respectively. The Englishman and German tallied 20+ goal contributions in their leagues, and oddsmakers expect them to carry that fine form over to international duty.

France’s all-time leading scorer, Olivier Giroud, is +2700 to win the Golden Boot. His teammate, Antoine Griezmann, Spain’s Alvaro Morata, England’s Phil Foden and Germany’s Niclas Fullkrug are the only other players with 30/1 odds or shorter to win the award.
