IBF Junior Welterweight champion Subriel Matías will return to his home of Puerto Rico to attempt to defend his title against Liam Paro at the Coliseo Juan Aubín Cruz Abreu in Manatí on Saturday, June 15.
Matías steps into the ring with a record of 20-1 including 20 knockouts. His lone defeat, a setback that only fueled his fire, came from Petros Anayan in February 2020. Yet, he bounced back with a vengeance, defeating Anayan in a ninth-round TKO in January 2022. This will be the second time Matías defends his IBF title at 140 pounds, a testament to his determination to enter the ring with the best.
Australian native Paro, with an impressive record of 24-0 including 15 knockouts, is stepping out of his comfort zone for the first time. This fight marks a significant milestone in Paro’s career as it will be the first time that Paro leaves his country for a fight. Paro is coming off a sixth-round TKO against Montana Love in December 2022, showing his readiness for this international challenge.
