The Coral Summertime 500 Standard Trophy final features at Hove this evening and Wasted Monday (T4) might prove too strong at 8.07.

A Category One finalist at the track in December last year, he didn’t have the perfect preparation for this year’s Derby but did look back to something like his best in the heats of this two-rounder last week. On all known form, he should prove too good for these rivals.

On the same card there are three heats of the Coral 500 Standard Trophy, and Newinn Benni (T6) is well drawn in the first instalment at 7.16.

The local greyhound has a vacant trap on his immediate inside and was really impressive when getting back in the winning groove in A1 over track and trip last time. This is obviously tougher, but he’s won at this level before and is still lightly raced.

Heat three at 7.49 can got the way of Clona Kody (T5).

Impressive all-the-way winner of a first-round Derby heat at Towcester two starts ago, on the back of winning the puppy race effortlessly here on Judgement Night last month, the June ’22 whelp is taken to put on a show dropping markedly in class.
