Everton vs Brighton prediction
This clash could go either way at this stage with the first game of the season still posing plenty of questions to both sides potential.
Will Everton keep their strong defensive record they had last season? Will they improve on their attacking returns to give them more of a chance of avoiding a relegation scrap?
Will Brighton bounce back to their form from seasons just gone?
One thing is for sure is that if we’re looking at the Seagulls ‘bouncing back’ after finishing 11th it shows the expectation we have for them.
They finished 6th in 22/23, 9th in 21/22, and 16th in 20/21 so they haven’t fallen off at all, but weren’t quite as strong in defence last season which saw them finish on a minus goal difference.
Brighton have brought in a few interesting players so the key will be how they fit into the rotation or starting XI and even how they fit into a new league.
Everton may not have solved their attacking issues with just two transfer deals for that area, coming in the form of Iliman Ndiaye from Marseille and attacking mid Jesper Lindstrom on loan from Napoli.
Neal Maupay returns from Brentford on loan so they do have that potential – he scored six goals last year, but only once for Everton in 27 matches, but has enjoyed much more success for his former club who he faces this weekend.

Brighton have had the more impressive summer and Everton may need some time to sort their attacking issues out, if there are any.
Everton also lost Amadou Onana for a big fee which is a huge loss as he was a key player in defensive midfield.
The Toffees may not be able to replace that Premier League experience but both teams do look very interesting coming into the opening of the season.
Brighton don’t have a great recent record against Everton though winless in the last three.
With a 5-1 loss in May 2023 followed by two 1-1 draws last season for both sides to go away with two points against each other over the two matches.
Brighton did previously see two straight league wins over Everton, with both of those coming in January of 2022 and 2023, winning 3-2 and 4-1 respectively.
Those flurry of goals stopped somewhat last season but could be back here in the first game of the season where there’s so much uncertainty.
