Pedro Neto to have 1+ shots on target
Pedro Neto is set to make an almost instant return to Molineux this Sunday after completing a big-money move to Chelsea over the summer and he will no doubt be looking to make an impact against his former club.
Neto made his debut off the bench in Chelsea’s opening-day defeat against Manchester City, struggling to make much of an impact, in a comfortable City win.
He made a much brighter impact from the start against Servette in Chelsea’s 2-0 Europa Conference League qualifier on Thursday night and could be in line for his first Premier League start for Chelsea.
Neto has averaged over two shots per game and is decent value to register a shot on target against his former club this Sunday.
Chelsea will certainly need him to provide an attacking outlet in a fixture that Wolves have dominated in the past four seasons, winning three and drawing one of the last four meetings at Molineux, with Neto scoring a 95th-minute winner when Chelsea travelled to there in the 2020/21 season.
Hwang Hee-chan to have 1+ shots on target
Hwang Hee-Chan enjoyed an excellent campaign last season, finishing as Wolves’ joint-top scorer in the Premier League with 11 goals, despite featuring in just 26 games.
Hwang struggled for opportunities in Wolves’ opening-day defeat at Arsenal, but that’s to be expected considering how watertight the Gunners have been at the back over the past two seasons.
Chelsea, who conceded 63 goals in the Premier League last season, and look capable of repeating that figure in 2024/25, should be a more forgiving opponent.
Hwang, who has averaged almost two shots per game over the past year, has every chance of finding the target at least once on Sunday.
Bournemouth v Newcastle
WHEN: Sunday, August 25 – 2pm
WHERE: Vitality Stadium
TV: Sky Sports Premier League/Sky Sports Main Event
Anthony Gordon to have 1+ shots on target
Anthony Gordon, like most of Newcastle’s attacking players, failed to have a shot in their 1-0 win over Southampton on the opening weekend.
However, that is almost to be expected as Newcastle played with 10 men for 62 minutes and spent much of the game defending with their backs against the wall.
Assuming they keep 11 players on the pitch, they should muster more than the three shots they managed against Southampton, and Gordon is likely to be among them.
He finished with 11 league goals in his first full season with Newcastle in 2023/24 and averages well over two shots per game in the past here.
He will be hoping to open his account for the season on Sunday and should hit the target at least once.
Philip Billing to have 1+ shots on target
Bournemouth ran riot in this fixture last season, emerging as 2-0 winners and hitting the target a whopping 10 times, as Andoni Iraola finally began to work his magic.
Dominic Solanke scored both goals on that occasion and Bournemouth’s season very much depends on how they can replace his goals, but they will pose plenty of problems for Newcastle regardless.
Philip Billing could easily be one of those causing a headache on Sunday afternoon.
The Danish midfielder is as dangerous in the air as he is from the ground and averages roughly two shots per game over the past year.
Alex Scott to have 1+ shots on target
Alex Scott put in an impressive display at the base of Bournemouth’s midfield in their 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest on the opening day.
Scott may have failed to take a shot in that draw, but he was one of Bournemouth’s top performers, and still averages well over one shot per game for the Cherries in the past year.
If Bournemouth can replicate the performance they provided in last season’s win over Newcastle, they are going to pepper Nick Pope’s goal with shots on Sunday.
They may not reach such lofty shot on target number but Scott represents a decent price to be among the home players to find the target.
