AFTER last week’s 95th minute hammer-blow in Denmark, Kilmarnock need an almighty comeback to secure European group stage football this Thursday.

Killie vs Copenhagen preview

For the best part of 70 minutes or so, Kilmarnock looked comfortable in Copenhagen and looked set to bring back a great result to Rugby Park.

The Italian referee on the night had a poor 90 minutes and had other ideas, awarding the Danes a controversial penalty with 13 minutes to go, before a goal with the final kick which is a gut-wrenching blow to Killie’s hopes.

In truth, it probably couldn’t have been a worse start to the season for McInnes’ side domestically, sitting bottom and having yet to score a goal.

Of course, the governing bodies in Scottish football haven’t helped, giving away days at Celtic and Aberdeen as they battle European Thursday nights.

Those goals and red card stats coupled together – added to the pedigree of Copenhagen in Europe – make for a difficult task for Killie in front of a packed home crowd.
