Slavia Prague v Lille
UEFA Champions League playoff match at the Eden Stadium, Prague
TV: TNT Sports 1, Wednesday, 8:00pm
Both teams to score
French side Lille will be confident of bounding over the final UEFA Champions League hurdle to ease from the playoffs into the shiny new Champions League format for the 2024/25 tournament.
A 3-2 win over Fenerbahce in the previous round secured a playoff spot, and a 2-0 home win over Slavia Prague in last week’s first leg, puts them in the driving seat heading to Czechia.
The hosts have no option to go for it in this game, to try and keep their own Champions League hopes alive, and Slavia Prague have only failed to score once in their last seven games in all competitions.
Jonathan David to score
Canadian international Jonathan David was linked with a summer move to the Premier League after netting 26 goals last season.
However, he opted to stay in France, and the 24-year-old has started the season in style scoring in three of his last four starts for Lille. His extra time penalty against Fenerbahce avoided a potential spot kick shootout in Turkey and he was on target in the first leg of this contest.
Atletico Madrid v Espanyol
La Liga match at the Estadio Metropolitano, Madrid
TV: Premier Sports 1, Wednesday, 8:30pm
Atletico Madrid to win and under 2.5 goals
Atletico Madrid ended last season in fourth spot in La Liga behind surprise package Girona in third. Diego Simeone’s team got a little slice of revenge over the weekend as they cruised to a 3-0 home win against the Catalans.
Simeone has been busy in the summer transfer window, as he looks to close the gap on Real Madrid and Barcelona in the months ahead, and this game should be another home cruise.
Espanyol have lost their opening two games of the season, but by 1-0 scorelines, and they will be hopeful of keeping the score down in Madrid.
Real Sociedad v Alaves
La Liga match at the Estadio Aoneta, San Sebastian
TV: Premier Sports 2, Wednesday, 8:30pm
Both teams to score
Real Sociedad got their campaign up and running with a 1-0 weekend win at Espanyol thanks to Takefusa Kubo’s wonder goal.
However, they conceded twice at home in an opening weekend loss to Rayo Vallecano and Basque rivals Alaves will be a test for them in San Sebastian and two of their last four league meetings have ended 1-1.
