Mohamed Salah to score

Mohamed Salah has been the scourge of Manchester United since swapping Roma for Liverpool in 2017. The prolific Egyptian has plundered more goals against the Red Devils (11) than any other player in Premier League history.

Salah tends to save some of his best work for his appearances at Old Trafford, where the Merseyside icon has scored a record-breaking eight goals, and on Sunday, the 32-year-old will be aiming to score in a fixture at the Theatre of Dreams for the seventh time in a row.

Fresh from notching in successive games for Liverpool against Ipswich and Brentford, the intelligent money backs Salah to make another telling impact against the Reds’ biggest rivals on Sunday.

Ryan Gravenberch to commit 2+ fouls

Liverpool were the third-most prolific team in the Premier League last season for fouls committed (12.20 per 90), and they have been leaning on their tactical fouling strategy again this term under new taskmaster Arne Slot.

Liverpool committed a bone-bruising 28 fouls across their first two league fixtures against Ipswich and Brentford, and Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, who has been a regular starter under his compatriot Slot so far, has been the most menacing individual for the Reds.

The 22-year-old has been averaging 3.00 tackles and 3.50 fouls per 90 for Liverpool, and he seems to be operating with a new, more combative remit than last season.

Gravenberch committed five fouls in one sitting at Ipswich on matchday one, so look for the former Ajax starlet to rack up similar numbers at Old Trafford.

Kobbie Mainoo to be fouled 1+ times

Kobbie Mainoo has been bristling with energy for Man Utd since the summer, and the 19-year-old has been averaging 2.63 tackles and 5.26 interceptions per 90 minutes in the Premier League so far.

Never far from the action, the ground-duel specialist has also been committing an average of 2.63 fouls (p/90) while drawing an even loftier 3.63 fouls per 90.

Equipped with quick feet and a robust frame, Mainoo can be challenging to dispossess, and markers often resort to more nefarious means to knock him out of his rhythm in midfield.

Each member of Liverpool’s midfield trio, Gravenberch (3.50), Mac Allister (2.00) and Szoboszlai (1.50), have been fouling regularly in August, so expect one or all of them to aim kicks in Mainoo’s direction.

Over 3.5 cards

Encounters between bitter antagonists Man Utd and Liverpool rarely pass without incident, and last season’s trio of meetings between the clubs in the Premier League and FA Cup produced an average of 7.00 cards per game.

When the teams last locked horns at Old Trafford in last season’s corresponding fixture in April, five United and two Liverpool were cautioned in a contest that featured 47 tackles and 19 fouls.

Referee Anthony Taylor struggled to contain tempers on that occasion, and the 45-year-old returns to officiate the same skirmish on Sunday.

With United on the brink of entering another early-season crisis, new Liverpool boss Arne Slot keen to pass his first big test against his compatriot Erik ten Hag and the usual edge that this fixture provides chucked in for good measure, aggression levels should be high in this one.
