After the likes of Elena Rybakina, Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz suffered shock exits in the earlier rounds of the US Open, many players will believe that they have a real shot of making it deep into the tournament.

Jannik Sinner to win 3-0 vs Tommy Paul @ 6/5
Jannik Sinner is one of the favourites to lift the coveted major trophy this year and he could reach the next round in style against home favourite Tommy Paul.
The Italian has faced the American on three previous occasions and came out on top twice – the most recent of which was in straight sets at the ATP Masters 1000 Canada where he prevailed 6-4, 6-4.
Sinner lifted his 15th career title in Cincinnati just prior to the US Open and has produced dominant performances in New York, winning two of the previous three rounds without dropping a set.
This form should stand him in good stead to produce another straight-sets victory against Paul, who has never progressed past the fourth round of this tournament.
Four total sets in Nuno Borges vs Daniil Medvedev @ 2/1
Alongside Sinner, Daniil Medvedev is hotly-tipped to go deep in New York, but he may have to work hard for victory against Nuno Borges on Monday.
The Russian has faced Borges on two previous occasions, winning both, however, each of their previous two encounters has seen at least one set decided via a tie-break.
World number 34 Borges has one title to his name in 2024 and is more than capable of taking his opponent the distance, having beaten Jakub Mensik in a five-set thriller in the first round.
While this meeting is unlikely to reach the length of Borges’s 3hr 48 minute marathon in the first round, Medvedev could still be made to work and the Portugues star could take one set off of the Russian.
Beatriz Haddad Maia to win vs Caroline Wozniacki @ 9/10
Former world number one Carloine Wozniacki is approaching the end of her glittering career and the 34-year-old’s hopes of a second Grand Slam title could end when she faces Beatriz Haddad Maia.
The experienced Dane has reached the quarter-finals in just two of her 12 tournament appearances in 2024 and most recently made it to the last eight of the US Open in 2016, eventually bowing out at the semi-final stage that year.
Brazilian Haddad Maia, meanwhile, went into the US Open on the back of reaching the final of the Tennis in the Land tournament and has already taken the scalp of world number 15 Anna Kalinskaya in straight sets in this year’s competition.
With the 28-year-old looking strong, expect the Brazilian to be too much for Wozniacki.
