Juventus is off to a fascinating start to the new Champions League season.
The Italian giants have only won three of their first six matches in Serie A, but they’ve yet to concede a goal and have held their opponents to a combined 2.2 expected goals (xG).
The Old Lady just recently broke a stretch of three consecutive nil-nil draws in league play.
What’s even more fascinating is that Juventus has had a difficult schedule, playing Roma and Napoli and securing three 3-0 victories over Como, Hellas Verona and Genoa.
That’s right, Juventus’ six matches this season have either ended nil-nil or 3-0. Bizarre.
The Old Lady did concede a goal in their Champions League opener against PSV Eindhoven, but they were able to walk over the Dutch side with a 3-1 win.
Juve now turns its head to a date with RB Leipzig in Champions League Matchweek 2 on Wednesday.

Juventus vs. RB Leipzig prediction
Holding your opponents without a goal in six matches in any league is a monumental feat, but Leipzig’s defensive record is not too shabby, either.
The Red Bulls have conceded just two goals through their first five games and have also played a pair of nil-nil matches.
That’s a whopping five combined scoreless matches for these two teams through 11 in their respective domestic leagues.
The main difference, however, is that Juventus’ defensive numbers actually look somewhat sustainable.
Nobody is expecting them to continue to hold every league opponent scoreless, but they’ve conceded just 0.44 xG per match in Serie A.
RB Leipzig’s statistical profile is a different story.
While there’s no arguing that they’ve been stout defensively, the Red Bulls have conceded 6.2 expected goals in five matches and should consider themselves a bit fortunate to only have shipped two tallies to this point.

Juventus vs. RB Leipzig pick
Both of these clubs are off to strong starts, and it is their defensive work that is doing the heavy lifting. But the numbers do point to one side falling off a bit.
Juventus looks like it could be a sleeping giant in this competition and we may not see prices like this once everyone takes notice.
