Chelsea vs Nottingham Forest preview
Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea do battle with Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon with the Blues looking to clinch a SIXTH successive victory in all competitions.
Chelsea have been on quite the run since their disappointing 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace, beating Bournemouth, West Ham, Barrow, Brighton and Gent.
During that run they’ve scored 17 goals and registered three clean sheets to catapult themselves to fourth in the Premier League – two behind leaders Liverpool heading into the latest round of fixtures.
Maresca appears to have successfully remodelled his squad after another £200million summer spending spree.
The Blues have made just nine changes to their starting XI in the league this season, which is four fewer than Manchester City and Newcastle and one fewer than Brighton.
And his settled side have scored more goals than anyone in the Premier League, rank fourth for xG in the division and have the likes of Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson firing with a combined 10 goals (66.67% of their league goals).
It’s also been a positive start for visitors Nottingham Forest, who’ve taken nine points from a possible 18.
They are, however, a little bit more difficult to predict having followed their fantastic 1-0 win at Anfield with a 1-0 defeat against Fulham on home turf.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side aren’t exactly firing goals in for fun, but defensively they’ve been rock-solid having conceded just five all season with only Liverpool and Manchester City boasting a lower xGC (expected goals conceded).

Under 2.5 goals
Nottingham Forest certainly won’t arrive at Stamford Bridge with the same approach or mindset as Brighton. The Seagulls stubborn insistence on playing a high defensive line saw Chelsea pick them apart, but a Nuno Espirito Santo side won’t be interested in that.
Forest will perhaps use their 1-0 win over Liverpool as a template, and that should see them sit deep and look to hit their opponents on the counter. As mentioned, only Manchester City and Liverpool can better Forest’s 5.38 xGC, while NOBODY has conceded fewer shots on target.

Cole
Given we expect only a few goals, whoever scores will need to be clinical – and they don’t get much more clinical than Chelsea’s Cole Palmer.
The England international, 22, has struck six goals in six league appearances this season – including FOUR against Brighton last time out.
Palmer has had seven big chances this term, and he’s scored with six of those – averaging a shot every 27.9 minutes and a conversion rate of 33.3% – which is actually better than Erling Haaland.
