September was an absolutely massive month for New York sports betting.

The New York State Gaming Commission reported the final sports betting totals for September, which saw users bet more than $2 billion during the month and saw the state take in more than $204 million in gross gaming revenue.

It was the second most lucrative sports betting month for New York since launching in January 2022.

Monster Month for Revenue, Handle

The New York State Gaming Commission reported the Empire State saw $2,071,515,109 in online sports betting handle, only the fourth time the state has eclipsed the $2 billion handle mark for a month and the first time in 20234.

It was the second highest month in terms of sports betting handle in the state’s sports betting history.

The state racked up more than $200 million in gross gaming revenue in the month as well, its second most lucrative month in sports betting history. The commission reported $204,710,934 in gross gaming revenue, which led to $104.4 million in sports betting tax revenue for the month.

It was only the third month the state has eclipsed $200 million in gross gaming revenue since launch.

FanDuel Leads Way in September

September saw FanDuel led the way in the Empire State yet again, as the operator reported $784,185,463 in handle and more than $97.95 million in gross gaming revenue. It topped DraftKings, the second most successful operator, in revenue for the month, but did lag behind in handle.

DraftKings reported $788,314,334 in handle, but $69.7 million in gross gaming revenue.

ESPN BET launched in full the past month as well, notching just $4.016 million in handle during its four days of operation in the month. It made just slightly over $103,000 in revenue for the month as well.
