Minnesota Timberwolves at Sacramento Kings odds, picks and predictions

The Minnesota Timberwolves (0-1) travel to face the Sacramento Kings (0-0) Thursday. Tip-off from Golden 1 Center is set for 10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Timberwolves vs. Kings odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Sacramento won 2-1 last season

Minnesota opened its season with a 110-103 loss vs. the Los Angeles Lakers Tuesday as a 1-point underdog. The Wolves shot only 41.2% from the field and lost the turnover battle 16 to 7. Newly-acquired Wolves G Donte DiVincenzo and F Julius Randle struggled, shooting a combined 8-for-21 from the field for a total of 26 points in over an hour of combined play.

Sacramento opens its season after picking up a big piece in F DeMar DeRozan from the Chicago Bulls in the summer. The Kings are hoping to stay afloat as a real playoff team in a loaded Western Conference, and they are hoping DeRozan will help them do that.

Timberwolves at Kings picks and predictions

Prediction

Timberwolves 117, Kings 115

Moneyline

BET TIMBERWOLVES (-115).

The Kings are relying on G Keon Ellis and F Keegan Murray for all of their perimeter defense now that G Davion Mitchell is playing in Toronto, and that won’t be enough to contain this Wolves squad.

Minnesota is the better team and was able to get a lot of rust knocked off vs. the Lakers, so the Timberwolves have the advantage here.

Against the spread

PASS.

While I am confident in the Wolves to win, this is still a very tightly contested matchup, and I am not a fan of either spread bet here, as there is simply too little margin for error. I recommend passing and betting the moneyline and/or Over/Under instead.

Over/Under

BET OVER 221.5 (-110).

The offense of this Kings squad should be lethal in all facets of the game, and that will help push this game to the Over. The Kings also have a lot of questions that need to be answered defensively, especially in their starting 5, so both G Anthony Edwards and Randle will be able to tear them up. Look for both teams to put up scoring clinics here.
