Colorado sports betting revenue dips but handle up

Gross sports betting revenue in Colorado, US, fell 16.2 per cent in October, but the state regulator said handle in the year-to-date is up 12 per cent year-on-year.




Overall wagering revenue across online and retail hit US$39.3m in October, down from $46.9m year-on-year and down 28.6 per cent from September’s $55.1m.

Of October’s total, there was a loss of $358,515 on retail betting while online operators generated $39.7m in GGR.

The revenue came from handle of $601.2m, up 8.4 per cent from last October’s $554.9m and up 6.8 per cent from $562.9m in September.

The Colorado Department of Revenue at the state’s Division of Gaming said handle for the year-to-date was $1.86bn, up 12.2 per cent from the $1.65bn that had been wagered up to October last year.

Sports betting taxes in Colorado fell 25.9 per cent year-on-year from $3.3m to $2.5m.
