Bill No. 1014, proposed by State Deputy Tito Barichello, arises in response to concerns about the spread of online gambling, especially through digital influencers.
The proposal aims to restrict the promotion by digital influencers of games sold by individuals and legal entities of online gambling or casinos in the State of Paraná.
According to Congressman Barichello, “the accessibility of online gambling, combined with the lack of regulation, can lead to compulsive behavior, resulting in addiction and serious psychological problems. The lack of effective control over these platforms increases the risk of financial losses for users, negatively impacting society.”
Another issue highlighted in the bill is that online gambling platforms operated outside of Brazil are not subject to national tax legislation. This generates tax evasion that compromises public revenue, affecting both the state and national economies.
In addition, there is a lack of regulation of gambling platforms in Brazil, making it difficult to control their operations. “Issues such as the opacity of the algorithms used, which can favor financial losses for players, raise concerns about the fairness of the practices of these services,” says Barichello.
Project objectives
The bill aims to prohibit the promotion of online gambling by digital influencers in Paraná, with the following objectives:
– Protect the population: Reduce risky behaviors associated with gambling, protecting the health and well-being of citizens.
– Combat tax evasion: Ensure that all gambling operations comply with tax regulations, contributing to public revenue.
– Promote a safe economic environment: Ensure that any gambling-related operation is subject to local regulations.
In this way, Bill 1014 seeks to address social, economic and transparency issues related to online gambling, defending an approach that prioritizes the protection of the population and fiscal integrity.
