The Premier League rolls into St Mary’s for Southampton’s clash with Spurs on Sunday evening. Things aren’t going well for either side lately. Indeed, of their last 10 combined league matches, only one has ended in a victory.
Former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole joined us during the week to give his thoughts and likes the chances of the hosts taking a rather valuable three points.
Let’s get his Southampton v Spurs betting tips.
Southampton v Spurs Bet Builder tips
Both teams to score, yes
Southampton to win
James Maddison to score
WHEN: Sunday, 15th of December, 7pm

There are so many talking points concerning this game. Spurs’ manager Ange Postecoglou seems to be saying one thing in one minute and then doing another in the next. Players have been coming out and talking about recruitment, and the fans look a bit disenchanted, so, it should be a great game, there’s going to be drama down on the south coast.
Russel Martin’s side has been improving. I know results haven’t been showing that, but they’re starting to look like they could do something. They were threatening going forward against Chelsea, they created plenty of chances although, ultimately they got a hiding. They will score. I’m convinced of that, and the Spurs will, too.
I will go a bit rogue and back Southampton to win and continue the misery for Spurs.
We will have some really big talking points after the game if that is the case. Tottenham are going through a difficult spell, and you have to wonder if they have the mindset to pull themselves out of it. Which players are going to step up now and be counted?
I’d take James Maddison to score for Spurs. He’s the sort of character you need in games like this. He’s got the minerals to get on the ball and play, and he needs to set the tone. I know he’s been under a bit of fire of late, he’s not been of the level we’re used to seeing him at but I’d back him to score here.
