The Senate Judiciary Committee has announced a hearing for Tuesday on the “growth in sports betting” since the Supreme Court struck down PASPA in 2018. Witnesses will include NCAA President Charlie Baker, who most recently was in front of Congress back in October to discuss the state of college sports (X, 12/16). When Baker first took on the job, one of the first things he and the NCAA did was conduct a survey on 18-22 year-olds in college, which found that over half of them bet on college sports. It’s a priority to tackle the issue, Baker said, with a specific focus to “to get prop betting out of sports” (Irving Mejia-Hilario, SBJ).
