Rush Street Interactive (RSI) has elected Thomas Winter, the founder and former president of Golden Nugget Online Gaming (GNOG), to its board of directors.
The company described Winter as a seasoned executive in the online gambling sector, bringing extensive experience to the board.
He founded GNOG in 2013 and remained its president until its $1.56bn all-stock acquisition by DraftKings completed in 2022.
Following the acquisition, Winter became DraftKings’ general manager for North America iGaming until October 2023, when he stood down from the role.
Prior to founding GNOG, Winter held several other executive roles in the gambling sector including as COO and CEO of Betclic and Expekt, as well as sitting on the boards of multiple gambling businesses.
In October this year, Winters joined the board of online casino supplier Awager as a senior advisor and board member.
“We are thrilled to welcome Thomas to our board”, said RSI CEO Richard Schwartz.
“His proven track record in the online gaming industry and his strategic vision will be invaluable as we continue to expand our footprint and enhance our offerings. We look forward to his contributions and are confident that his expertise will help drive our future success”.
In its Q3 2024 financial report, RSI recorded a 37% year-on-year revenue increase to a record $232.1m, while adjusted EBITDA jumped from just $4.1m in Q3 2023 to $23.4m.
According to anonymous sources quoted in Bloomberg earlier this year, the operator was reportedly exploring strategic options including a potential sale of the business.
The reports suggested RSI had already approached several potential buyers at that time, including DraftKings.
