Andrew’s Ayr Gold Cup Meeting day two betting tips

The quality of racing starts to pick up today with two listed races up for grabs.

Let’s get right into it and take a look at my best bets, along with the top online horse racing bookmakers for day two of the Ayr Gold Cup meeting.

Andrew’s horse racing betting tips

Here are by three best bets for day two of the Ary Gold Cup meeting and the best online bookmakers to make your next bet a winning one.

  • Ayr 2:33 Our Mighty Mo 5/1
  • Ayr 3:05 Uncle Don 3/1
  • Ayr 3:40 Star Of Lady M 12/1

Ayr 2:33 – Get Home Safe With Thistle Cabs EBF Nursery Handicap (5f)

It’s a tough race to start with, where Karl Burke has a strong hand with Lovat Scout and last-time-out winner Mo OUR MIGHTY MO.

I believe Our Mighty Mo is the one who will benefit most from the drop down to the minimum distance today.

He won over 6f last time out, where he pulled clear with the runner-up, just holding on in the closing stages.

With this race likely to have a blistering pace due to several confirmed front runners, it could set up nicely for one just off the pace. If they go at a breakneck speed, Our Mighty Mo, with his extra stamina reserves, could be the one to capitalize on that.

  • Selection: Our Mighty Mo 5/1
  • Danger: Lovat Scout 11/2
  • Current Betting: Bonnie’s Boy 5/2, Our Mighty Mo 5/1, Loveat Scout 11/2, Where’s Clare 13/2, Stirrup Cup 17/2, Candy 11/1, 11/1 bar.

Ayr 3:05 – Listed British EBF Stallions Harry Rosebery Stakes (5f)

A decent 5f Listed stakes here, and the one who stands out to me is UNCLE DON

After finishing 2nd to Big Cyril (who has since placed in a Listed race) on debut, Uncle Don went on to decisively beat Big Mojo by over two lengths.

Since then, Big Mojo has gone on to beat Aesterius in a Group 3, with Aesterius later winning another Group 3 and then reversing the form by beating Big Mojo by a neck in a Group 2 at York.

We haven’t seen Uncle Don since his win back in early July, but that form alone makes him a major player here, with plenty more improvement likely.

There’s plenty of pace on offer today, which will suit Uncle Don’s racing style perfectly, and I would be bitterly disappointed if he doesn’t prove to be better than Listed class.

  • Selection: Uncle Don 3/1
  • Danger: Lexington Blitz 10/1
  • Current Betting: Coto De Caza 11/4, Uncle Don 3/1, Kaadi 15/2, Star OF Mehmas 15/2, Against The Wind 9/1, Lexington Blitz 10/1, Kings Call 11/1, 18/1 bar.

Ayr 3:40 – Listed Arran Scottish Sprint EBF Fillies’ Stakes (5½f)

A deeply competitive field lines up here, with many in with a shout. The one I want to take a chance on at an each-way price is STAR OF LADY M.

We all remember what she did at York, bolting up by over 4 lengths to win the fillies’ handicap off a mark of 87. Granted, there was a pace bias in her favor that day, but she couldn’t have been more impressive.

She followed up that win with a solid run back on the all-weather against the boys in the Racing League. Now back against her own sex and returning to turf, with ground conditions very much in her favor, she may be able to slip away from her rivals and hold on at a track that should suit her.

Don’t rule out a big run from Azure Blue either. You can write off her last run, as she lost a shoe when leaving the stalls and had a tough trip throughout the race. Prior to that, she finished just over 6 lengths behind Bradsell in the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes at York.

If she can put that previous run behind her, she has more than enough class to play a leading role here today.

  • Selection: Star Of Lady M 12/1
  • Danger: Azure Blue 13/2
  • Current Betting: Frost At Dawn 3/1, Woodhay Wonder 9/2, Azure Blue 13/2, Marine Wave 15/2, Gutsy Firl 8/1, Rage Of Bamby 10/1, Vicario 10/1, 12/1 bar.
