We head to Carlise and Cork for today’s best horse racing betting tips.
It’s a shame that Iroko has been taken out of the Colin Parker Memorial Intermediate Chase, but to many people’s surprise, Grey Dawning has been declared.
This could be an indication that he is not going to run at Wetherby.
But, away from that, I have three betting tips for this jam-packed day of horse racing action.
So, let’s not waste any more time.
Here are my best bets for Sunday’s horse racing, along with the best online bookmakers to place your next winning bet.
Best bets for Saturday horse racing
- Carlise 12:48 – Uncle Bert
- Cork 2:42 – Gorgeous Tom
- Cork 3:15 – Hand Over Fist
Carlise 12:48 – Gordon Richards Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase (2m4f)
We have a good six-runner chase to get us going this Sunday with plenty of promise on show.
Springtime Promise makes her chase debut here but has plenty of experience from her Point-To-Point days. She hit a decent patch of form at the start of the year, which saw her back herself a Grade 2 Mares Hurdle at Sandown.
She will be bang if ready, but I want to give UNCLE BERT a chance to show that he has learned a lot from his chase debut at Uttoxeter.
Sent off an Even-money favourite in a three-runner race over a trip well short of his best, he never really got into any rhythm and was eventually outpaced and allowed to come home in his own time.
With that experience under his belt, the step up in trip will suit, and with James Turner taking off a valuable seven pounds, we should see a much-improved performance from Uncle Bert.

Cork 2:42 – Grade 3 Paddy Power Betting Shops Irish EBF Novice Chase (2m4f)
A field of ten line up for the Grade 3 Paddy Power Betting Shops Irish EBF Novice Chase and a case can be made for most of the field.
Shecouldbeanything comes in here looking for a four-timer, while Monbeg Park and Jesse Evans all have their chance.
But the may have to chase GORGEOUS TOM home.
He was a well-backed 4/5 favourite on chase debut at Wexford, beating Monbeg Park by three lengths, who has since gone on to finish second in a Grade 3 novice chase at Punchestown. The fourth Jazzy Matty has also gone on to win at Sligo and then been beaten a head at Cheltenham. So, the form of that win is stacking up.
Gorgeous Tom was then sent off favourite for a Grade 3 chase at Tipperary, only to fall at the ninth when travelling well. That race was subsequently won by Shecouldbeanything, with Gaelic Warrior back in second.
He is a standout here because of his potential, and barring accidents, I see him being too good for his rivals.

Cork 3:15 – Listed Paddy Power Cork Grand National Handicap Chase (3m4f)
Last year’s winner, Sir Bob, is back to defend his crown, but at the age of 12 and five pounds higher in the weights than when winning last year, he will find it much tougher this time around.
I want to concentrate on the bottom weight here: HAND OVER FIST.
Two from two over three miles plus, this Henry de Bromhead trained gelding may have even more to offer, stepping up in trip once again.
He turned the 11/10 favourite Ceanndana, who went on to win his next race and has since run well in a big amateurs handicap chase at the Cheltenham October meeting.
Following that win, Hand Over Fist fell two out at Downpatrick when still in contention, but he got right back on track over three miles at Cork win by over three lengths.
If he steps forward again, this bottom weight can take full advantage and add another Grand National win to Henry de Bromheads’s CV.
