Haydock 1:15 – Group 3 Best Odds On The Betfair Exchange Superior Mile Stakes (1m)
A small but select field lines up for this 1m Group 3.
Cicero’s Gift looks to get back to winning ways after a below-par performance at Goodwood. It was said that the ground was to blame, so the forecast for faster conditions might not be in his favor again.
Witch Hunter nearly made it back-to-back victories in the Group 2 Hungerford Stakes, and with the drop in grade here, he should be seriously involved.
But the one who has been running consistently well all season and may be about to have his day in the sun once again is HOLLOWAY BOY.
The world was his oyster after winning on debut in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot back in 2022, but he has yet to get his head back in front since then.
He’s been placed three times in Class 2 handicaps at Sandown (where Cicero’s Gift finished ½ length ahead), Goodwood, and most recently at York.
He has a tendency to work himself into a sweat before his races and will need to be on his best behavior here. But there’s that sneaky suspicion that, with the assistance of William Buick, Hollow Bay is about to strike.
He was a much bigger price before final declarations, but at his current odds of 11/2, there’s still some value there.
- Current Betting: Cicero’s Gift 4/1, Regal Reality 5/1, Witch Hunter 5/1, Hollow Bay 11/2, Clove Hitch 13/2, Prague 9/1, Sparks Fly 10/1.

Haydock 1:50 – Betfair Plays Different Handicap (1m6f)
This is quite a decent Class 2 staying handicap, and the one who looks most interesting at a price is ROAD TO WEMBLEY.
A three-time winner on the all-weather, Road To Wembley switches back to turf today.
His only previous run on turf resulted in a second place finish to Warmonger, who was on a winning spree at the time.
There’s no reason why he can’t improve on his all-weather form back on turf, and with his confidence sky-high after a front-running win at Newcastle, he could be hard to catch on a track that favors front runners over extreme distances.
At 9/1, he’s a great each-way play for a horse that stays further.
- Current Betting: Master Builder 7/2, Contacto 4/1, Hutchence 11/2, Road To Wembley 9/1, Across Earth 10/1, Walter Hartright 12/1, 14/1 bar.

Haydock 2:25 – Betfair Exchange Old Borough Cup Handicap (1m6f)
Another cracking staying handicap here, with Epic Poet looking to improve on his 5th place finish in the Ebor last week, but he may find it tough today.
DANCING IN PARIS is one I’ve liked this season, and he comes in on the back of another win.
He has a tendency to be slow away, but as a strong-traveling type, he doesn’t waste time when asked for tactical speed.
A strong stayer to boot, he’s now 2lb higher than when finishing just over 2 lengths behind (after being hampered at the start) the St Leger-bound Align The Stars. This is a mark that Dancing In Paris looks more than capable of putting up a big showing off.
A huge each-way chance today.
- Current Betting: Epic Poet 11/2, Divine Comedy 7/1, Oneforthegutter 8/1, Knightswood 9/1, The Goat 9/1, Dancing In Paris 10/1, Waxing Gibbous 10/1, 14/1 bar.
