Bally Bet sportsbook went live in Massachusetts on Tuesday, becoming the seventh sportsbook to operate in the state. The sportsbook now operates in eight different states, with New York and Ohio being the big two. Still, it’s a big move for the sportsbook, which is trying to establish itself in the United States.
The Bally Bet launches in Massachusetts is a sign that the sportsbook is gaining acceptance and it hopes to branch into other states. The plans are for Bally Bet to join the online sports betting mix in Maryland sometime this month.
“We’re super excited to go live in Massachusetts, a state with such a rich sports history, a state where sports are part of the fabric of the community. We can’t wait to participate in the entertainment, the fun, and the excitement of sports in your state.” Bally COO of North American Interactive Brett Calapp said at Monday’s meeting of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.
Bally Bet is going to have to match-up with some of the giant sports betting sites around. DraftKings, FanDuel Fanatics, Caesars, ESPN BET and BetMGM are among the sportsbooks operating in the state. Still, the MGC was pleased to see Bally Bet launches in Massachusetts.
“Congratulations to Bally’s and thank you for being another legal entity in the market here in Massachusetts,” Massachusetts Gaming Commission interim executive director Jordan Maynard said.

Bally’s Move in the Works For Some Time
To see Bally Bet launches in Massachusetts isn’t something that happened overnight. The parent company, Bally’s, has been planning the move for quite some time. Bally’s joined the Responsible Online Gaming Association late in June as it seeks to expand its online presence in the sports betting world. Having another choice is always good for sports bettors, allowing them to have another set of scores and odds to compare before placing their wagers.
Bally’s joined bet365, BetMGM, DraftKings, Fanatics Betting and Gaming, FanDuel, Hard Rock Digital and PENN Entertainment in the Responsible Online Gaming Association. Just being lumped with some of the other sportsbooks helps Bally’s in terms of acceptance.
“We are thrilled to welcome Bally’s as a founding member of ROGA — further demonstrating the collaborative
effort of the iGaming and online sports betting industry to keep all forms of online gaming entertaining and fun
for every American,” said Dr. Jennifer Shatley, executive director of ROGA. “Bringing on additional operators
fulfills ROGA’s commitment to industry-wide collaboration, and I am encouraged and excited for the future of
responsible gaming as we work together to enhance consumer protections and collectively amplify RG
education efforts.”
Bally’s also said the right things when the announcement was made.
“We are proud to join the Responsible Online Gaming Association as a founding member, alongside some of the industry’s leading companies. At Bally’s, we are committed to promoting responsible gaming and empowering our customers to make informed decisions about their online play. By collaborating with ROGA and its members, we can enhance responsible gaming initiatives, fund research, develop best practices, and educate consumers. Together, we will strive to create a safer and more enjoyable online gaming environment for all.” Said Robeson Reeves, Chief Executive Officer of Bally’s Corporation.
