Bet of the day
Crystal Palace to beat Brentford @ 15/8
The end of the 2023/24 Premier League season came at the wrong time for Crystal Palace, with the Eagles flying in the final weeks of the campaign.
Winning six of their last seven games of the season, with the other result a draw, Palace were one of the form teams in April and May.
Manager Oliver Glasner earned rave reviews for his progress with the Eagles and they will be determined to hit the ground running when they travel to Brentford on Sunday.
Palace cruised to a 3-1 victory the last time these sides met in December at Selhurst Park and the Eagles are good value to make it back-to-back wins against a Brentford side that have won just three of their last 15 Premier League games.
Special of the day
Manchester City to win to nil and Erling Haaland to score any time @ 21/4
Manchester City are once again the team to beat and the reigning Premier League champions look capable of making a winning start at Chelsea on Sunday.
The Citizens have an impressive record in this fixture, going unbeaten against the west London outfit in their last nine meetings.
City to win to nil would have landed in seven of their last nine games against Chelsea in all competitions and that trend can continue this weekend.
Last season’s Golden Boot winner Erling Haaland bagged himself a brace on his last visit to Stamford Bridge and the Norwegian can get on the scoresheet once again in the capital.
Long shot of the day
Sheffield Wednesday to win to nil @ 5/1
Dropping down to the Championship, Sheffield Wednesday will look to inflict more misery on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Sunday.
While the Black Cats won 2-0 in their opening game of the season last weekend at Cardiff, Sunderland’s home form has been woeful of late.
The North-East outfit have failed to win any of their last seven home games in the Championship and they have scored just once in their last six league games at the Stadium of Light.
Sheffield Wednesday, meanwhile, have won their last three away games in the Championship, beating Queens Park Rangers, Blackburn Rovers and most recently Sunderland 2-0 in their final game of last season.
The Owls look capable of recording another win to nil on Sunday to back up their 4-0 win over Plymouth in their opening game of the Championship campaign.
