There are plenty of good sportsbooks in the United States, but Bet365 and BetMGM rank among the best.

BetMGM jumped into the country’s mobile sports betting scene in 2018 as PlayMGM before rebranding as BetMGM a year later. MGM started in 1987 and has since expanded to become a hospitality and entertainment juggernaut with over 30 hotel and gaming destinations across the world, 12 of which are located in Las Vegas.

Bet365 was founded in the U.K. in 2000. It arrived in the U.S. in 2019, initially launching in New Jersey before expanding to other states. Bet365 is one of the biggest names in European sports betting and has been expanding throughout North America as well.

While both sportsbooks are great options for bettors, we’ll run through the differences between the two to help you decide which one to try first.

BetMGM / Bet365 States

The most important thing to look for when joining a sportsbook is whether it’s available in your state.

That said, BetMGM has a clear advantage here, as it’s available in over 20 legal sports betting jurisdictions. Bet365 is only available in 11 states, all of which also have BetMGM.

One area where Bet365 has an advantage is Canada, as BetMGM isn’t operational there.

While BetMGM has a much wider reach than Bet365, both are still expanding. Bet365 debuted in North Carolina and Pennsylvania in 2024, while BetMGM launched in Washington, D.C.

Bonuses & Promos

Online sportsbooks usually offer “welcome bonuses” for new users to entice people to join their platforms, and Bet365 and BetMGM are no different.

Bet365’s ‘First Bet or Bet & Get’ Offers

Rewards Program

BetMGM has the clear advantage here, as it has a rewards program while Bet365 doesn’t.

BetMGM boasts an impressive rewards program that includes perks like VIP trips to MGM resorts and casinos. You can earn points on betting, hotel stays and dining, among other things.

BetMGM’s rewards program has five different tiers that allow members to earn rewards at different rates. The more you earn, the more you unlock with tiers.

Bet365 doesn’t have any physical sportsbooks in the United States, so BetMGM has a clear advantage in that regard as well.

Market Depth & Variety

Both sportsbooks offer plentiful betting markets on a wide range of sports and have advantages in different ways.

Bet365 boasts an impressive number of niche and international betting markets (which makes sense given its international background), while BetMGM has more alternate lines, player props and same-game parlay options.

You’ll find plenty of traditional bets on both sportsbooks like moneylines, point spreads and totals. There are also round robins, futures, parlays and other bet types.

Neither sportsbook has a clear edge in this category, so your choice depends on your betting preference. Bet365 is better for betting on international sports, whereas BetMGM has more options for major American sports.

Betting Odds & Lines

BetMGM and Bet365 both offer competitive odds.

Rather than placing all of your bets on one sportsbook, you’re better off using multiple books to compare odds and get the best price.

Below, we have an odds example that shows how odds differ by sportsbook and why shopping for the best price and line is important.

In this scenario for an NFL game between the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers, both sportsbooks have different odds. The spread is larger by half a point at BetMGM, which also has a bit more juice on the moneyline. There’s a half-point difference in the Over/Under as well.

This is just one example, but you’ll often see small odds differences across all sportsbooks, not just these two.

Bottom line: No single sportsbook will always have the best odds on everything. You may find better odds for one game at BetMGM but better odds for a different game at Bet365.

We encourage signing up for as many sportsbooks as possible to make sure you always get the best possible odds.

Payment Methods

Both BetMGM and Bet365 have numerous options for depositing and withdrawing funds from your account.

Bet365 Deposit Methods

  • Debit/Credit Cards
  • PayPal
  • Online Banking
  • Apple Pay
  • Skrill
  • PayNearMe
  • Paysafecard

BetMGM Deposit Methods

  • Credit/Debit Card
  • Online Banking
  • Apple Pay
  • PayPal
  • ACH eCheck
  • PayNearMe
  • Play+ Prepaid Card
  • Wire Transfer
  • Venmo

You can also deposit money into your account at the counter in a physical BetMGM sportsbook. Since BetMGM has more options, it gets the nod here.

As for withdrawal methods:

Bet365 Withdrawal Methods

  • Online Banking
  • Credit/Debit Card
  • PayPal
  • Skrill

BetMGM Withdrawal Methods

  • Online Banking
  • Debit Card
  • ACH eCheck
  • Venmo
  • PayPal
  • Play+ Prepaid Card
  • Check
  • Cash at Casino Counter (where applicable)

BetMGM also has the edge in withdrawal methods.

No matter how you choose to transfer money into or out of your account, both sportsbooks have a good selection of safe, quick and reliable methods, though BetMGM boasts more options.

Mobile App Experience

While BetMGM and Bet365 have similar mobile applications available on iOS and Android devices, BetMGM is a bit superior in terms of its presentation and interface.

BetMGM’s mobile app looks good, is easy to navigate and isn’t overwhelming. It’s easy to find the bet you’re looking for, build parlays and place live bets. There’s also a streaming feature that allows users to watch select games live.

BetMGM’s mobile app is ranked highly by users and rotates promotions on the home screen. However, we’ve noticed it can be a bit glitchy and doesn’t run as smoothly as some of its competitors.

Bet365 offers a similar betting experience. Its app is streamlined and not as cluttered as some of its competitors, making it user-friendly. It runs smoothly and has great reviews at the App Store and Google Play Store as well.

That said, Bet365’s app is simpler than BetMGM’s and lacks some features that seasoned bettors might be looking for. The color scheme also isn’t as visually appealing.

Both mobile apps work great, but BetMGM has more to offer and gets our vote here.

Customer Service

Bet365 and BetMGM have similar customer service processes for resolving issues.

Both sportsbooks have standard FAQ sections with resources for common questions, which can be helpful if you want to try to find the answer yourself.

They also both have automated live chat features that are available 24/7. The messaging starts with a bot, but you can escalate to a live agent if needed.

Bet365 also has the option to email customer support along with a 24/7 toll-free phone number to call. BetMGM’s phone support was down at the time of writing, but it still offers email and live chat support.

Resolving customer support issues is relatively quick and easy at both sportsbooks, but Bet365 gets a boost thanks to its phone support.

Bottom Line

While Bet365 and BetMGM are both outstanding options for sports bettors, we give BetMGM the slight edge between the two.

Bet365 has a clear edge when it comes to its incredible welcome offer and providing international betting markets, but BetMGM has a rewards program, better domestic betting markets and a plethora of odds boosts and other promotions. It’s also more widely available and has a better app.

Both sportsbooks are worth checking out, but BetMGM is one of the best all-around sportsbooks out there, making it tough to beat.
