Attentions turn back to the Premier League after the reboot of the Champions League in midweek.
In truth, it’s likely these two managers had more than eye on this one despite those Euro outings.
What’s also true is neither will have been too happy – nor too concerned – with the performances as City and Arsenal fell to 0-0 draws with Inter and Atalanta, respectively.
City were dominant in their clash and the main concern will be the first half knock for Kevin de Bruyne which puts his contribution here in some doubt.
They’ve started the season perfectly though; scoring 11 goals and claiming maximum points in all four games – the only side in the division to do so.
So they go into the game as favourites and rightly so.
That’ll be in part due to Arsenal’s record at the Etihad being pretty rotten, having not won at the ground since Santi Cazorla and Olivier Giroud goals in 2015.
Their lack of top class goal scorer is an issue. But they’re also struggling to create anything, highlighted by the injury to Martin Odegaard.
They sat off Spurs for most of the game last week and controversially scored from a set-piece, before a flat attacking performance in Italy in midweek.
As they did when last here in March, they look likely to sit in and concede the ball to City for the majority of this one.
