Celtic vs Kilmarnock preview
Brendan Rodgers and his Celtic team get their title defence underway on Sunday when hosting Kilmarnock.
It’s Flag Day at Celtic Park to honour the Premiership success last season but they’ll be keen to put that behind them and get off to a good start.
Their pre-season has been remarkable, with wins over Premier League champions Manchester City and Chelsea while in America – scoring four goals against both.
They’re rightly favourites for league success this term and still have Matt O’Riley in their squad – for now anyway.
Kilmarnock were knocked out the Europa League after a narrow 1-0 loss to Cercle Brugge on Thursday.
Such is the nature of the powers that be in Scottish football, they’ve been handed the toughest start possible in the league, with another European game to come a few days later, too.
They’ve not been helped by the fixtures “computer” but they should at least be somewhere near match-fit coming here and attempt to build on their impressive Old Firm record last year.
