Danish gambling spend increase fuelled by online casino

An eight per cent rise in online casino spend helped push total gambling spend in Denmark in July up by 2.5 per cent year-on-year.



Online casino spend climbed from DKK263m (£29.7m) in July 2023 to the latest figure of DKK284m (£32.1m).

But while betting spend increased by 0.7 per cent to DKK149m (£16.8m), gaming machines spend and land-based casino spend were both down by 5.2 per cent to DKK92m (£10.4m) and by 9.4 per cent to DKK29m (£3.3m), respectively.

Month-on-month, there were declines across all gaming verticals, according to the data from Spillemyndigheden, the Danish gambling regulator.

Betting spend fell from DKK271m (£30.6m) to DKK149m while online casino spend fell from DKK303m (£34.2m) to DKK284m.
