An epic heavyweight showdown is upon us as Deontay Wilder (43-3-1, 42 KOs) and Zhilei Zhang (26-2, 21 KOs) are scheduled for 12 rounds this Saturday, June 1. The bout will serve as main event of the 5v5: Queensberry vs. Matchroom event. Live coverage begins at 2 p.m. ET on DAZN PPV with Wilder and Zhang expected to make ring walks close to 6 p.m.
Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn agreed to find five of their best fighters to do battle in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. On this card is also a featherweight title fight between Nick Ball and Ray Ford as well as reigning light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol making another title defense. Wilder and Zhang were made the main event following an injury to Artur Beterbiev, thus delaying his undisputed light heavyweight title bout with Bivol.
The “Bronze Bomber” won the WBC heavyweight belt back in 2015 and had a string of nine straight successful title defenses. However, a pair of defeats to Tyson Fury ended his championship reign. Known for his knockout prowess, Wilder looks to get back on track following a poor performance and loss to Joseph Parker last December.
Zhang also lost to Parker, but his defeat came at the expense of his WBO heavyweight title. “Big Bang” dropped Parker early in the fight, but failed to capitalize and would go on to lose in a tough majority decision.
In what is sure to be an entertaining bout, let’s take a look at the odds to win, total rounds, fight outcome, and whether it’s favored to go the distance, courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.
