The bill presented by deputy Alencar da Silveira Júnior to the Assembly also prohibits the use of random games, such as roulette.
In another article, the bill bans online betting on random games such as roulette, casinos, bingo and jogo do bicho. The section even covers variations of the so-called “jogo do tigrinho” (Fortune Tiger).
The first stage of analysis of the proposal will take place in the Constitution and Justice Committee (CCJ) of the Assembly. The idea is that the Lottery of the State of Minas Gerais (Lemg) will be the agency responsible for monitoring compliance with the points defended by the project. According to the text, if there is any disregard for the rules by betting houses, the state may fine them.
“The betting company operating within the State must implement, on their platforms, policies and permanent actions to prevent, combat and treat gambling addiction, as well as tools capable of identifying its occurrence by users, under the terms provided for in the regulations,” states an article of the project.
According to Alencar, who is also the chairman of the Board of Directors of América, the ban on betting on individual conduct would not prevent users of such platforms from being able to predict the results of sports matches.
“The objective is to ensure that the online betting market operates responsibly, preserving the integrity of the consumer and mitigating risks to public health,” he said.
Player from Minas Gerais is targeted by the Federal Police
Betting on individual behaviors such as yellow and red cards has prompted investigations around the world to determine possible irregularities. This week, for example, relatives of striker Bruno Henrique, from Belo Horizonte and a Flamengo player, were targeted by the Federal Police.
Bruno is suspected of having received a yellow card on purpose in November of last year, against Santos, in the Série A of the Brazilian Championship. The behavior would have served to benefit bettors close to him.
