This bet has some serious value at nearly 5/1.

Cam Rising to win the Heisman Trophy (+3000)

As referenced earlier, Utah star Cam Rising is the 2024/25 Heisman Trophy winner according to the simulation. He threw for 3,747 yards, 36 touchdowns and four interceptions while leading the Utes to a 12-1 regular season.

These numbers would all be career highs — or low, in the case of the interceptions — for Rising, but it’s not out of the question as his stats have trended in the right direction since his debut. Further, Utah is the Big 12 favorite (+310) and success makes award wins even more believable.

Rising’s real-life odds of winning the Heisman Trophy have dropped significantly since the lines were released in January. He opened at +5000 and I touted him as a value pick at that price. Nine of the last 15 Heisman Trophy winners began the season with longer than 20/1 odds. Rising meets this criteria at 30/1 (as of July 16) and I still believe there is value.
