France coach Herve Renard, whose team have a Euro 2025 qualifier against England later, on Sonia Bompastor: “She is a good coach, she won a lot of titles. You are
getting a coach with a lot of experiences and a lot of trophies.

“I’m sure
Chelsea has a lot of expectation with her and I’m sure she will do very well
with the two members of staff who are coming with her.”

France and Aston Villa midfielder Kenza Dali added: “She’s a really good coach, was a great player and very competitive. I think the English like this mentality of always wanting more and I think she is the definition of that. It’s a good thing for Chelsea. The transition will not be easy.

“I think Emma Hayes is difficult to replace. She will always be amazing in England. A lot of people, like me, have a lot of respect for her. It will not be easy for the fans and the players. There will be a transition phase – but I’m sure Sonia will be ready for that.”
