FPL Tips For Gameweek 8 From Big Man Bakar

Leading FPL tips pundit Big Man Bakar is back from the International break to give you his three differentials to try and squeeze into your sides ahead of Gameweek 8.

For the context of this article, a ‘differential’ is considered to be a player owned by roughly 15% or less of FPL managers.

Big Man Bakar’s Top Three Differentials FPL Tips For Gameweek 8

1) Dominic Solanke (Ownership: 11.9%, Price: £7.6m)

I’ve been talking up Solanke as one of my best FPL tips over the last few weeks but I think this is probably the last Gameweek where it would be fair to call him as a differential.

Spurs have a great run of fixtures coming up, so I believe his ownership will only go in one direction. Spurs are scheduled to face West Ham, Palace, Aston Villa, and Ipswich in the next four Gameweeks, and their attackers should have opportunities to excel.

It’s also surprising to see that Spurs are first in the league for xG this season. Most of this goal threat is coming through Solanke, who has already accumulated eight big chances in five Premier League starts and is averaging close to 0.8 xGi per 90.

For context, he is third in the Premier League among forwards this season for that statistic. He’s also consistently playing nearly 90 minutes in the majority of his starts, which is reassuring.

There’s a slight chance that he could be taking penalties as well. Bookmakers rank Solanke as the second most likely goalscorer after Haaland this week, giving him a solid 50% chance of scoring against West Ham.

2) Bruno Fernandes (Ownership: 6.8%, Price: £8.2m)

The suggestion may appear ludicrous on paper, but it has some degree of merit.

As an owner, Fernandes has tested my patience to the limit.

He has accumulated just 16 points in 7 starts, but his underlying data suggests that he has been unfortunate not to have had more returns. His non penalty expected returns of 3.26 are way higher than just the one assist he has registered, which makes him the second highest underperforming player in the league for non-penalty xGi.

Man United have also been extremely profligate in front of goal, scoring just five times from a xG of 11.1. What works in Bruno’s favour is that he is completely nailed, with set pieces and penalties in his locker.

United have a favourable run of fixtures coming up too, with the Red Devils scheduled to face Brentford, West Ham, Chelsea, Leicester, Ipswich and Everton in the next six Gameweeks.3)

Chris Wood (Ownership: 11.6%, Price: £6.2m)

Despite scoring four goals in seven starts this season, it seems as if Chris Wood has gone under the radar with many FPL tips experts.

He may not seem to be the most fashionable pick on paper but his record under Nuno Espirito Santo is exemplary. He has scored 15 times in 23 appearances under the Portuguese, averaging close to six FPL points per start.

He’s also on penalties so should be fancied to return against a Crystal Palace team with just one Premier League clean sheet this season.
