Liverpool vs Arsenal predictions

Liverpool got their pre-season tour of America off to a winning start with Dominik Szoboszlai scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win over Real Betis.

The victory gave new Liverpool boss Arne Slot a win in his first (if you don’t include the 1-0 behind-closed-doors loss to Preston North End) official pre-season friendly.

It was also a welcome boost ahead of a much tougher looking assignment against the Gunners in Philadelphia.

Completing Liverpool’s tour of America will be a meeting with old rivals Manchester United in South Carolina this weekend.

After the conclusion of the tour, Liverpool return home, facing Sevilla at Anfield, before the new Premier League season gets up and running.

The all-Premier League clash against Liverpool is Arsenal’s third and final fixture in the USA.

The Gunners started off with a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Los Angeles.

With this being America, the fans weren’t happy with a draw and Arteta’s side went on to complete a 5-4 win in a penalty shoot-out.

In their second match, Arsenal completed a 2-1 win over Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United.

The Gunners went a goal down to a strong looking United side, Rasmus Hojlund put the Red Devils ahead after just 10 minutes.

A first half equaliser from Gabriel Jesus was followed by the winning goal from second half substitute Gabriel Martinelli after 78th minutes.

Considering Arsenal were without either of their recognised goalkeepers and the majority of their usual back four, the comeback win was impressive.

In team news, Liverpool are depleted with a whole host of stars still away after their nations went deep into the Copa America and Euro 2024.

Only Andrew Robertson, Diogo Jota, Dominic Szoboszlai and Vitezslav Jaros have so far returned.

Arsenal are doing a bit better than that. They had Gabriel Magalhaes, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Martinelli available for the Manchester United game.

Despite this, the Gunners are still without Declan Rice, Aaron Ramsdale, Bukayo Saka, David Raya and William Saliba for the showdown with Liverpool.

Liverpool vs Arsenal betting tips

Liverpool look short on players. Arne Slot will have to rely on a lot of youngsters if he is to get a result against Arsenal. It won’t be easy, and we can see the Gunners cashing in on Liverpool’s shortcomings.

Arsenal to win – 13/10 (Betfred)

Liverpool looks depleted. They are without a whole host of established players and in their 1-0 win over Real Betis they had to use Harvey Elliott in a more advanced strike role due to the absence of Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez.

The Reds do have Diogo Jota available. But it’s debatable how much game time he will be given if he plays.

Arsenal are still without their English contingent, David Raya and William Saliba.

But in the 2-1 win over Manchester United, Mikel Arteta was able to call upon the likes of Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard, Jorginho, Gabriel Martinelli, Eddie Nketiah, and Kai Havertz.

The Gunners look like they may have too much firepower for Slot’s men.

Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals – 10/11 (bet365)

Liverpool boss Arne Slot may well feel under early pressure.

His club are yet to sign a player, and he knows he has almost impossible shoes to fill following on from Jurgen Klopp.

But this is friendly. And friendlies allow head coaches to throw a bit of caution to the wind and also for players to express themselves more with no real pressure riding on them if they make any silly mistakes.

If Slot isn’t going to experiment and try and entertain now, then when will he?

He did try and put a positive spin on the win over Real Betis. Yes, Liverpool had the better of the match. But they only won 1-0, in what wasn’t the most impressive performance.

Against Arsenal it’s hard to see Liverpool keeping the Gunners out. Despite this, the Merseysiders should have enough quality available to get themselves on the scoresheet.

And with the likelihood of Arsenal scoring more than once, both teams to score and over 2.5 goals looks to be a good wager at just under even money with bet365.

Tip both teams to score over 2.5 goals at 10/11 with bet365

Kai Havertz to score anytime – 11/4 (bet365)

Kai Havertz made an appearance from the bench in the 2-1 win over Manchester United.

Furthermore, Mikel Arteta will want to get him back on the scoresheet as soon as possible with a huge season ahead for Arsenal.

The Spaniard knows he has Gabriel Jesus to call upon. But having the additional goals of a player like Havertz can be priceless to the Gunners when they find their squad stretched later in the campaign.

Last season the German took a bit of time to settle. Arteta knows Havertz is a player who needs confidence. So it won’t be lost on him how important it is to get him up and running a lot sooner this season.

Expect to see Havertz get a good runout against Liverpool.

Back Kai Havertz to score anytime at 11/4 with bet365
