Man Utd vs Leicester preview

Ruud van Nistelrooy will be hopeful of a first (and last) Premier League win as Manchester United’s interim manager when Leicester arrive at Old Trafford on Sunday.

It’s Van Nistelrooy’s final chance to impress with new boss Ruben Amorim set to arrive and officially begin his duties on November 11.

It should be a familiar feeling for the Dutchman, who kicked off his brief tenure with a 5-2 victory over the Foxes in the Carabao Cup a fortnight ago.

He should also feel confident of claiming maximum points with the Red Devils having lost just two of their last 17 Premier League games against Steve Cooper’s side.

United have scored in each of their last 28 Premier League games against Leicester, while they’ve also won 16 of their last 18 top-flight games against promoted sides.

Recent form should also fill supporters with optimism after a run of three games without defeat, including a routine 2-0 win over Greek opponents PAOK in the Europa League – their first win in this season’s competition.

It’s not been a great three-game streak for visiting Leicester.

They are winless after defeats to United and Nottingham Forest, and were somewhat fortunate to have bagged a 94th-minute equaliser against Ipswich Town last weekend.

The Foxes sit 15th in the standings with 10 points from their opening ten games, and are one of two teams – along with Manchester City – to have scored in all of their Premier League games so far this season.

Talk about Bruno

Rinse and Ruupeat, right? Ok, Leicester will field a stronger XI than they did in the Carabao Cup – but this still looks like a comfortable win for Manchester United.

Captain Bruno Fernandes got off the mark for the season with a double against the Foxes last time, and he swiftly followed that up with a penalty against Chelsea.

No United player can match his 32 efforts on goal this season with the Portuguese averaging an effort every 26 minutes. He also boasts the highest xG in the squad with 3.75.

Fouls

Well there’s no doubting that Facundo Buonanotte has been electric for Leicester since his arrival from Brighton.

The 19-year-old Argentine has three goals and two assists for the Foxes in 11 appearances. However, he’s also rather prone to a booking.

The attacker has picked up five yellow cards in 740 minutes of competitive action this campaign, while only Wilfried Ndidi has committed more than his 14 fouls. It’s not really a blip considering he was booked EIGHT times for the Seagulls last season.
