Manchester City vs Nottingham Forest predictions
It’s hard to believe, but after 13 matches of the Premier League season, Manchester City sit fifth in the table on just 23 points.
The Light Blues are just one point ahead of their Wednesday night opponents, Nottingham Forest, who sit sixth on 22.
Worse still, after Sunday’s 2-0 defeat away to Liverpool, City are now 11 points behind the Reds at the top of the Premier League table.
On the completion of Matchday 13, Liverpool is now just 4/7 in the latest betting to win this season’s title and prevent Manchester City from making it five in a row. Arsenal is second at 11/4, with City out at 8/1.
Sunday’s match at Anfield was an opportunity for Manchester City to produce a performance that reminded everybody who the champions are. It ended up being anything but.
Liverpool were by far the superior team. The stats may show City had the majority of the ball (57%), but they did very little with it, and Liverpool had more shots on goal (18-8), and more shots on target (7-2).
Surely the attention now for City boss Pep Guardiola and his team is to stop the rot. They can forget about the Premier League title and just focus on trying to get their season back on track.
City has lost their last four in the Premier League. We need to go back to October 26th for their last top flight victory, a 1-0 win over bottom-of-the-table Southampton at the Etihad.
Furthermore, City has lost six of their last seven in all competitions. And the only match they didn’t lose, the 3-3 home draw with Feyenoord in the Champions League, must have felt like a defeat after the Light Blues threw away a 3-0 lead.
City’s opponents on Wednesday night, Nottingham Forest, are having a brilliant season under the guidance of manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
The Reds have won four of their last six in the Premier League. Their 1-0 home win over Ipswich Town on Saturday ended a two match losing skid and was a much needed confidence booster ahead of a trip to the Etihad.
Forest’s main strength is their defence. Their backline has only been breached 13 times in the Premier League this season. Only Liverpool (8) has conceded fewer goals.
Also thriving under the leadership of Espirito Santo is Chris Wood. The veteran striker has nine goals in the Premier League this term. Only Erling Haaland (12) and Mohamed Salah (11) have scored more than the 32-year-old Kiwi.
Wood’s latest goal came from the penalty spot on Saturday and was enough to see his Forest team beat Ipswich 1-0. He had drawn blanks in the two matches that Forest lost against Newcastle (3-1) and Arsenal (3-0). But ahead of the two shutouts, Wood had scored in four successive matches.
Manchester City vs Nottingham Forest betting tips
Manchester City has to get a win soon. They can’t keep on getting beat.
It may take a brave punter to back City to beat Forest at 1/3 in their current form, but after the Reds came up short against Newcastle and Arsenal, it’s highly unlikely they will get the better of the champions at the Etihad.
The fixture looks like a great chance for City to get that much needed win. But, on a cautious note, we all thought that ahead of the Feyenoord match in the Champions League last week.
Regardless, this is set to be the night that City finally gets that much needed win. Please see below for our alternative Manchester City v Nottingham Forest betting tips:
Man City (-1) to win on the handicap
It’s almost getting to the stage where we have to back City because they are simply due a win. And there is a good chance that when the win comes, it will be a big one.
It’s true that Forest doesn’t concede many. But better teams have been handed a good beating by Pep’s side over the years.

City is very short in the 90 minute market. To win by two goals or more, they are just a touch below even money. Someone is going to get well beaten soon. It could be that Nottingham Forest are in the wrong place at the wrong time.
⚽ Back Man City to win from -1 on the handicap at 10/11 with bet365 ⚽
Over 2.5 goals and both teams to score
Whether Nottingham Forest wins, loses or draws, there is a good chance they will find the back of the net against a Manchester City team that hasn’t kept a clean sheet in any of their previous seven matches.
Nottingham Forest aren’t prolific scorers under Nuno, but they have scored in 11 of their 13 Premier League matches this season. Only Fulham and Arsenal have prevented them from scoring.
Furthermore, Forest have Chris Wood rivaling Erling Haaland in the race to win the Golden Boot.
We can see the visitors finding the net, even if they get well beaten by the current champions.
⚽ Back over 2.5 goals and both teams to score at 6/5 with bet365 ⚽
Over 3.5 cards
Manchester City has picked up 30 yellow cards in their 13 Premier League matches this season. Forest has picked up 29 yellows, with two of them leading to red cards.
Neither side has the worst record for cards in the top flight. But things could be different on Wednesday.
Clearly frustration has crept in at times for the Light Blues, and it was visible on Sunday with the three bookings they picked up against Liverpool. If things are going wrong against Forest, expect a similar reaction from the City players.
Furthermore, there is also the chance that Forest will employ time wasting tactics if they are in with a chance of leaving the Etihad with something.
The two combined could be a recipe for both teams picking up at least a couple of cards each.
⚽ Back over 3.5 cards at 4/6 with bet365 ⚽
