“From the meeting with Google, processing online gambling content reports can be faster with help from AI,” he informed on Wednesday.
During the meeting on Tuesday (June 4, 2024), the two parties discussed the use of AI to speed up the processing of reports on online gambling content.
With the help of AI, the process of identifying and handling online gambling content can be carried out faster and more accurately compared to the method currently used, which relies on a combination of human and machine power, Setiadi said.
The minister asked Google to immediately apply AI technology to eradicate online gambling in the digital space.
“Of course, the implementation will consider aspects of cybersecurity and good governance,” he added.
He said that the AI method is still in the testing stage.
On June 3, he had shared his plans to meet with Google representatives to discuss online gambling eradication in Indonesia.
“As a form of Google’s participation in government programs, they will help us to eradicate online gambling with AI technology,” he said.
According to him, the use of AI in eradicating online gambling in Indonesia is in line with Google’s focus, which, in the last year, has developed many innovations in its services based on AI.
Therefore, Setiadi said he believes that similar steps can be implemented by Google in Indonesia, which is currently fighting online gambling, which is damaging public morale.
In the past year, the government has taken serious measures to check online gambling practices in the digital space.
At the end of May 2024, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) also reassigned the national task force to eradicate online gambling, led by the Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law, and Security Affairs, Hadi Tjahjanto, with the mandate to dismantle the online gambling ecosystem in Indonesia.
