Olympic betting guide for August 3: Can USA’s Noah Lyles win 100m Gold?

All eyes will be on track and field on Sunday in Paris, as American star Noah Lyles seeks Gold in the 100m final, which takes place at 3:50 p.m. ET.

In addition to the highly anticipated men’s 100m on the track, the women’s high jump (1:55 p.m. ET) and men’s hammer throw athletes (2:30 p.m. ET) will also be competing for Gold.

Men’s golf is also wrapping up its fourth and final round of action on August 4. Jon Rahm (+135) and Tommy Fleetwood (+150) were the favorites to win Gold as of 10:30 a.m. ET after the final round got underway early Sunday morning.

Paris 2024 men’s 100m final betting analysis

The odds indicate that this will come down to either Thompson or Lyles. The 23-year-old Thompson and Lyles, 27, are two of the biggest names competing in these Olympics.

Lyles won the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay last year at the 2023 World Athletics Championships.

But he finished second in his qualifying 100m heat on Saturday with a time of 10.04 seconds. He’ll need a much better showing on Sunday to medal, much less take home Gold. Lyles will also run in the 200m on Thursday, an event in which he’s heavily favored to win Gold.

Men’s 100m final best bet: For Sunday, the best bet, based on Lyles’ underwhelming showing on Saturday, is to take Thompson at -160 (FanDuel).
