The Ducks are joining the Big Ten in 2024 after previously playing in the Pac-12. They have a strong relationship with Nike (which was founded by two alumni) and are known for their unique uniforms.
The Ducks have emerged as one of the best college football teams in the country over the past two decades, reaching the National Championship Game in 2010 and 2014. They also produced a Heisman winner in Marcus Mariota (2014).
On the court, Oregon won the first NCAA Tournament in 1939. The Ducks did not reach the Final Four again until 2017, marking the longest drought between Final Four appearances in NCAA history.
The Beavers have won seven conference championships on the gridiron, with the last one coming in 2000. Their best season came in 1907 when they went 6-0 and outscored their opponents 137-0. It’s the only perfect season in school history.
In basketball, the Beavers have reached the Final Four twice but have yet to win a championship. Their most recent NCAA Tournament appearance was in 2021 when they made the Elite Eight.
The University of Portland does not have a football team, which was discontinued after 1950. The Pilots have made two NCAA Tournament appearances in basketball, going winless in both. Their last appearance came in 1996, the same year as their lone West Coast Conference tournament win.
The Vikings compete in the Big Sky in football and have appeared in two Division I-AA playoffs. Their best season came in 1988 when they lost to North Dakota State in the Division II National Championship Game.
The Vikings made back-to-back NCAA Tournaments in 2008 and 2009 – their only two appearances so far. They’ve also appeared in the CollegeInsider Tournament twice.
