Packers at Eagles: How to watch, odds, expert picks with Philadelphia as home favorite

The Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles opened their season against one another in Week 1 at a neutral site, and now one of them will have their season come to a close against the other. The Eagles, the No. 2 seed in the NFC and having won 12 of their past 13 games, are more than a field goal home favorite.

Of import here is the health and status of both teams’ starting quarterbacks, as they have been dealing with recent injury issues.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has not played since the first quarter of Philly’s Week 16 game against the Washington Commanders and has been in the concussion protocol ever since. He is active for Sunday’s game, but after missing more than two-and-a-half weeks, there are concerns about rust and getting back up to game speed.

On the Packers side, quarterback Jordan Love was pulled after injuring his elbow in the team’s Week 18 game against the Chicago Bears. His removal seemed more precautionary than anything else, and he is active for Sunday. But wide receiver Christian Watson, who was also injured in Week 18, is out for the season, taking away one of Love’s big-play targets in the passing game.

Prior to their injuries, both quarterbacks were playing at an exceptionally high level. Over his past seven games, Love has thrown nine touchdowns to zero interceptions. Over his past 12 games, Hurts has thrown 15 touchdowns to only one interception.

The injury concerns could be countered by the Packers’ and Eagles’ rushing attacks, which are among the league’s best: top-five in rushing yards per game and top-six in yards per carry. Both teams made huge offseason additions to their running game during the offseason. The Packers signed Josh Jacobs, who finished sixth in the league in rushing, while the Eagles landed Saquon Barkley, who topped the 2,000-yard mark and made a run at Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record.

Overall, the Eagles went 11-6 against the spread this season but were only 4-4 against the spread at home. Green Bay was 4-3 against the spread on the road and 9-8 overall.

The over/under for Sunday is at 44.5 points. Only seven of the Eagles’ 17 games have reached the over this season, including two of their eight home games. The Packers have reached the over in eight of their 17 games.
