RAVENS (-8.5) over Raiders
Before Apollo Creed’s untimely demise in “Rocky IV,” he says of his bout with Ivan Drago: “Some folks got to learn the hard way.”
Well, we learned the hard way in backing the two biggest favorites last week and watching both fail to cover — with the Bengals even losing outright.
But that’s not going to deter us here.
The Ravens should be quite ticked off after Thursday’s crushing finish, and the Raiders got beaten soundly on the road by a Chargers team with far less talent than the Ravens.
Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson should run wild against a Raiders defense that couldn’t contain J.K. Dobbins coming off a season-ending injury.
This one has blowout written all over it, especially with the Raiders making the cross-country trek.
JAGUARS (-3) over Browns
The Browns are a bit of a mess right now.
Deshaun Watson has been sued again for alleged sexual assault, which he has denied.
On the field, his Week 1 play did not inspire any confidence against the Cowboys, and it’s possible he may be finished as an elite quarterback.
He now will be without top target David Njoku, who led the team in receiving yards against Dallas.
Betting on the NFL?
Add in that it’s a road game in the hot Florida sun, and laying a field goal with the Jaguars seems like the play.
The Jaguars would have been one of the pleasant surprises of Week 1 had they not blown a 10-point lead to the Dolphins, but there’s no Tyreek Hill to worry about in this one.
Last week: 0-2. Bengals (L), Bills (L).
