Real Madrid vs Sevilla predictions

There is a three-way battle going on at the top of La Liga, and after dropping two points last Saturday, Real Madrid is now coming third.

Real Madrid has 37 points from 17 matches. They sit one point behind cross-city rivals Atletico and one behind league leaders Barcelona, although both Madrid clubs have one game in hand on the Catalans, who sit top thanks to goal difference.

Barcelona suffered another shock defeat last weekend. This time they went down 1-0 at home to Leganes, meaning they have now only won one of their last six in La Liga.

But even though Barcelona’s generosity will be greatly appreciated by Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, he has far more than just the Catalans giving him sleepless nights this season.

Atletico are now on an eleven-match winning streak in all competitions. They are a real live contender to win La Liga this season.

And furthermore, Ancelotti still has enough issues of his own to deal with such as a lengthening injury list, and players still not looking totally comfortable in the roles they are being asked to play in.

One player who seems to have emerged from his early season doldrums and is now looking like his old self is Jude Bellingham.

His goal in the 3-3 draw with Vallecano last Saturday was his sixth of the season in the league. It was also the sixth successive La Liga match he has scored in.

Madrid warmed up for this Sunday’s match with a comfortable 3-0 win over C.F. Pachuca of Liga MX in the Intercontinental Cup final on Wednesday.

The forward trio of Mbappe, Vinicous Jr. and Rodrygo got the goals that sealed Madrid’s win in Qatar.

Sevilla has had no such distractions to deal with. Los Nervionenses has had a full week to prepare for their visit to the Spanish capital.

The last time García Pimienta’s team played was last Saturday, they defeated Celta Vigo 1-0 to win their sixth La Liga match of the season.

García Pimienta took over as manager of Sevilla in June. He is charged with getting the team back into Champions League contention after a disappointing couple of seasons that culminated in a 14th place finish last term.

The team was in serious relegation trouble at times, with previous manager Quique Sánchez Flores eventually leading them to safety before quitting.

So far Pimienta’s record has been modest. His team sits 11th in La Liga with 22 points from 17 matches. They have scored 17 goals and conceded 23 times.

Only six teams in the division have scored less goals, including the bottom three.

Real Madrid vs Sevilla betting tipsç

In their last five in La Liga, Real has won three, drawn one and lost one. Sevilla has won two, drawn two, and lost one.

Real Madrid will be disappointed to have gone away from home last weekend and still not won, despite scoring three times.

As has been the case in recent weeks, Madrid were far from dominant. But on this occasion, they didn’t find a way to get past Vallecano and claim the three points.

The same can be said of Sevilla. They may have won 1-0 at home to Celta, but it was the visitors who had the majority of the possession and shots on goal – although crucially, it was los Nervionenses who had the most on target, leading to the win.

A match against Madrid will be a different proposition from Celta. And Real badly need the points in their bid to win the title. We say they will get them. More Real Madrid v Sevilla betting tips are below:

Real Madrid to score over 2.5 goals

We were considering backing Real to win on the European handicap from a -1 start. Los Blancos are 10/11 in this market.

Then we saw that Real is 23/20 to score over 2.5 goals. They would need at least two goals for the European handicap bet to win. But they would need three if Sevilla finds the net just once, and as we know, Madrid conceded three last weekend.

Furthermore, Real Madrid has scored three goals in their last four matches in all competitions. So backing Real to score over 2.5 goals at better odds makes far more sense.

Jude Bellingham to score and Real Madrid to win

Jude Bellingham has been in sensational goalscoring form in recent weeks.

He drew a blank for the first time in five matches in all competitions in the 3-0 win over C.F. Pachuca on Wednesday. But, Bellingham has found the net in his previous six La Liga matches.

Furthermore, Vinicius Jr. is suspended for the fixture against Sevilla. This means more responsibility will fall on the shoulders of Bellingham. The Englishman does have an injury niggle. But if he plays, he is worth backing to score again.

Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals

Despite not scoring a bag full of goals in La Liga, it’s not often that Sevilla go a match without scoring.

A closer look at the statistics shows that García Pimienta’s team has scored in 13 of their last 15 matches in all competitions.

Furthermore, Real Madrid has been conceding a few of late. Wednesday’s opponents, C.F. Pachuca didn’t offer much of a threat going forward, but in their two matches before, Real conceded five goals.

It’s not impossible to see Real scoring two or three, and it’s certainly not impossible to see Sevilla find a goal from somewhere as well.
