Scotland bounced back well from their mauling to Germany by holding Switzerland to a 1-1 draw in their second match. The Scots came out fighting in match two, and while the Swiss looked the more composed side on the ball, Scotland can consider themselves unlucky not to have taken all three points.

Only five other Scottish players have scored, they are Paul McStay, Brian McClair, Gary McAllister, Ally McCoist, and Callum McGregor (Antonio Rudiger also kindly chipped in with an OG). McTominay is the sixth.  

During the qualifying campaign, the 27-year-old scored four goals in two back-to-back matches against Cyprus and Spain in 2023. The Manchester United midfielder can go on goal-scoring runs. He’s also done it for United in the Premier League in the previous season. There is no reason why he can’t do it again for Scotland against Hungary.
