A quite incredible result not many people seen coming – now Gers have to kick on from it.
The 4-1 thumping of Ligue 1 Nice showed there’s a good side in there and the inconsistency will be the most hurtful aspect for their supporters.
Granted, the defending on show from the Nice players – in particular the captain – was an absolute shambles and was rightfully booed by the handful of fans inside the ground.
They looked like they completely chucked it as Gers strung together some really good moves and could – and should – have scored more.
When Ridvan Yilmaz even won a header at the back post, you knew it was one of those night.
St Johnstone will put up a firmer defence but the way Gers played with confidence must help them now.
