Bet of the day

Aston Villa – Race to 7 corners @ 6/4

This season, Aston Villa are one of the most productive corner winners in the Premier League at home while Brighton have been struggling to register many away from the Amex Stadium.

Unai Emery’s side have won the race to seven corners in six of their last 11 Premier League games, including four of their last five at Villa Park.

Meanwhile, the Seagulls have not even managed to earn seven corners in five of their last seven matches and have been beaten in the race to seven in six of their last 12 top-flight fixtures.

Special of the day

Casemiro to be shown a card @ 9/5

Manchester United will miss the services of a couple of key midfielders when they entertain Newcastle at Old Trafford in the final Premier League game of 2024.

Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte are suspended for the clash having been sent off and yellow carded respectively against Wolves on Boxing Day, with both men incurring one-match bans.

Their absences look set to present another opportunity for Casemiro to start under Ruben Amorim.

The former Real Madrid star will go up against a couple of fellow Brazilians in the Magpies’ engine room and their tussles have not been for the faint-hearted in the past.

Casemiro has been booked in all four of his appearances against Newcastle since he joined United and he looks great value to pick up a card again in what is sure to be a physical battle.

Long shot of the day

Cole Palmer to score a hat-trick @ 14/1

Chelsea’s final game of 2024 is at Portman Road against an Ipswich side that shipped four goals against Newcastle last time they performed in front of their own fans.

The Blues are likely to be smarting from their Boxing Day home defeat to Fulham and this match presents them with a good chance to get that result out of their system and finish the year on a high.

Enzo Maresca’s side have scored more away goals than any other team in the Premier League and have the capacity to match or supersede Newcastle’s output at Portman Road.

Cole Palmer has been the Blues’ most potent force for over a year now and he is already on course to eclipse his 22-goal Premier League haul of last season, having bagged his 12th of this campaign against Fulham last time out.

Palmer claimed two hat-tricks last term and already has one match ball in his collection this season from his four-goal outing at home to Brighton in September.

He has the ability to net another triple in this fixture.
