Top fashion designer Wayne Cooper charged with assault after alleged Bondi dust-up

Top fashion designer Wayne Cooper has been charged after he allegedly assaulted his second wife.

Cooper, 61, allegedly became involved in an argument with Elizabeth Adams, 47, at an apartment complex on Campbell Parade at Bondi, in Sydney‘s eastern suburbs.

Ms Adams went to police with her claims on Sunday, sparking an investigation into the alleged incident.

The British-born designer was charged with one count of assault and slapped with an interim Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) later that night.

He is due to appear before Waverley Local Court on Thursday.

The alleged incident is the latest hurdle for the couple after Ms Adams was slapped with a two-year-long AVO in September after an incident with her new husband.

The order restricted her from assaulting or threatening Cooper, intentionally or recklessly destroying or damaging any of his properties or animals.

The couple had just celebrated their first marriage anniversary on December 1 last year, having tied the knot nine months after meeting and falling ‘madly in love’.

Both Ms Adams and Cooper insisted their relationship was going strong and dismissed the impact of the AVO that was handed down in September.

‘Everything is fine,’ Cooper told Daily Mail Australia at the time.

‘It’s a storm in a teacup. We’re together and we’re happy and that’s it.’

Cooper popped the question to Ms Adams when he hid an engagement ring in a bowl of caviar during a romantic dinner at Bondi Icebergs.

The couple had been dating for just eight months following the breakdown of Cooper’s 25-year relationship with former model Sarah Marsh.
