Spurs vs Wolves predictions
Struggling Tottenham Hotspur will host Wolverhampton Wanderers in Matchweek 19 of the Premier League.
It’s been an up and down season for Spurs. And at the moment, they are most definitely in a down period.
Their 1-0 Boxing Day defeat away at Nottingham Forest left Spurs sitting 11th in the table with 23 points from 18 matches. It was also Tottenham’s fourth defeat in their last five Premier League matches.
Patience is now wearing extremely thin with manager Ange Postecoglou. He is in real danger of getting the sack if he doesn’t start producing results soon.
The latest mini-crisis started with a drab 1-0 defeat away to Bournemouth on December 5th. But worse was to come, with Spurs losing 4-3 at home to Chelsea three days later.
Okay, losing to Chelsea isn’t the worst result in the world. But it was the manner of this defeat that caught the eye most.
Spurs surrendered a two goal lead in the Matchday 15 showdown. They may have only lost by one goal, but the 4-3 scoreline flattered the Lilywhites.
From the moment Chelsea pulled a goal back from 2-0 down, it looked ominous. But to their credit, Spurs held out to just over the hour mark.
What happened from here on was embarrassing for Spurs. It was an utter capitulation as they conceded three goals in just 12 minutes.
A poor performance away at Rangers followed with Spurs lucky to leave Glasgow with a 1-1 Europa League draw.
Postecoglou’s team did bounce back with a 5-0 away win at Southampton in the Premier League on the following Sunday. But the truth is, the Saints were worse in this match than Spurs were against Chelsea.
There was then another near calamitous capitulation against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup.
Spurs were coasting at 3-0. But a couple of goalkeeping blunders saw United pull it back to 3-2, before Son added a fourth to put the game to bed. Spurs still found time to concede a third in the 4-3 win.
And then came the Liverpool match. Six goals conceded at home, and it should have been more. Whatever happens over the remaining festive season matches, the 6-3 defeat to Liverpool has likely sealed Postecoglou’s long-term fate.
The match against Spurs will be the third in charge for new Wolverhampton Wanderers’ boss Vitor Pereira.
Pereira won his first match in the job, ending a four-match losing streak for Wolves with a 3-0 win away at Leicester City.
Pereira followed that up with a 2-0 Boxing Day victory over the hapless Manchester United.
But it was the win against Leicester that was huge. Not only did it end the losing streak, it also saw Wolves close the gap on Leicester to just two points, dragging the Foxes right into the heart of the relegation scrap in the lead up to Christmas.
Defeat in the match against Leicester was unthinkable for Wolves. And along with a desire to end the losing streak, it was a factor in the timing of the decision to show O’Neil the door ahead of the proverbial six-pointer.
Gary O’Neil was sacked after the team lost 2-1 at home to Ipswich Town in Matchweek 16. The writing had been on the wall for some time for O’Neil. And losing the first of their two six-pointers proved to be the straw that broke the camel’s back.
The change at the top is currently having the desired effect at Molineux. Wolves finished Boxing Day above Leicester and outside of the bottom three.
They now have a great chance to further build on this run of wins against an under-pressure Tottenham team.
Tottenham vs Wolves betting tips
Tottenham have picked up only four points from a possible 18 since their 4-0 win over Manchester City. Their latest loss was on Boxing Day against Nottingham Forest, a result that has only increased the pressure on Spurs’ manager Ange Postecoglou.
Wolves have won their last two. They seem to have turned the corner under new manager Vitor Pereira. A morale-boosting 3-0 win over Leicester was followed by another three points in the win over Manchester United.
Despite this, it will be hard to avoid defeat against a Spurs side who are desperate for three points. Read more of our Tottenham vs Wolves betting tips below:
Tottenham to win and both teams to score
We can’t be betting on a win for Spurs at odds of 3/5. They are simply too short.
Ange Postecoglou’s team can’t defend. They have conceded 26 goals in their 18 Premier League matches, and they have conceded in eight of their last nine in all competitions since their 4-0 win over Manchester City.
If Spurs do win, they will likely concede. So a bet on Tottenham to win and both teams to score makes more sense.

Matheus Cunha to score anytime
Matheus Cunha has ten goals and four assists in his 18 Premier league matches for Wolves this season. He has been their standout player in what has, at times, been a bleak campaign.
But the Brazilian has really flourished in his recent weeks, with three goals and one assist in his last three Premier League outings.
He got his team’s only goal in their 2-1 defeat at home to Ipswich, and he followed that up with Wolverhampton’s third in their 3-0 win over Leicester.
On Boxing Day he opened the scoring against Manchester United, and then unselfishly provided the assist for Hwang Hee-chan to score the second.
Cunha is 13/2 to score first, 12/5 to score anytime, or 13/10 to score or assist. He only has one assist in his last six. So we are baking him to score anytime for our tip.

James Maddison to score anytime
In what has been a thoroughly bleak few weeks for Tottenham fans, James Maddison has provided some cause for optimism.
Maddison scored twice in the 4-0 win over Manchester City.
And the former Leicester City midfielder has also provided three goals and one assist in his last four Premier League matches.
Maddison provided an assist against Chelsea, was on the scoresheet twice against Southampton, and once in the 58 minutes he was on the pitch against Liverpool.
He started on the bench against Forest, playing in just 26 of the 90 minutes on Boxing Day. Spurs fans can rightly ask why he has been used so sparingly in recent weeks.
Could it be the manager is not maximising the potential of an attacking midfielder with eight goals and four assists in 18 Premier League matches? Surely he has to start against Wolves.
