Travelers picks: Best bets for Sunday’s final round

The 2024 Travelers Championship is coming down to the wire. Many golfers are in contention at TPC River Highlands, including the current leader, Tom Kim (18-under par), and Masters champ Scottie Scheffler (-17). Other notable players vying for the top prize include Xander Schauffele (-16), Collin Morikawa (-15) and Tony Finau (-14).

Here are three of our favorite betting picks for the fourth and final round of this year’s Travelers Championship.

Tom Kim – Tournament Winner +360 (FanDuel)

Despite leading the tournament wire to wire, Kim isn’t the favorite heading into Round 4 at TPC River Highlands. Scheffler (+150) is the favorite and only sits one stroke back. But Kim’s play this week should encourage bettors that he can hold off the loaded leaderboard and secure his first win in 2024.

Kim, who entered the Travelers Championship with +4500 odds, opened with a 62 on Thursday before recording back-to-back 65s. A significant reason for Kim’s success is the lethal iron game, sitting second in strokes gained on approach shots. He’s also registered 19 birdies and just one bogey, showing elite touch on the greens.

This week, the 22-year-old Kim is ahead of Scheffler in approach shots and putting, the two most critical factors in winning at River Highlands. Give me Kim to win the Travelers at phenomenal value.

Tony Finau – Top 5 Finish +260 (DraftKings)

It’s easy to overlook Finau, who sits four strokes out of the lead. And while he might not win, we’re targeting solid odds on the 34-year-old finishing inside the top five at TPC River Highlands.

Like Kim, Finau has been dialed in on approach shots. The third-place finisher at last week’s U.S. Open is fourth in SG: Approach and second in scrambling. His play on and around the greens has helped him avoid bogeys, as he sits with just two dropped shots after three rounds.

Finau might not record enough birdies to overtake Kim for the lead. However, his consistency should result in a top-five finish at the PGA Tour’s final signature tournament of the season.

Adam Svensson – Top 10 Finish +280 (DraftKings)

Svensson has gone under the radar this tournament. After opening with a 71 on Thursday, the Canadian has shot 64 and 63 in Rounds 2 and 3. I like him to carry the momentum into Sunday and secure his second top-ten finish of the PGA Tour season.

In a tournament where strokes gained near the hole are critical, Svensson is 29th in approach, eighth around the green and 14th in putting. He ranks higher than many of his fellow players in those stats, particularly those near him on the leaderboard. He’s also found the scoring touch the last two days, draining just two fewer birdies than Kim.

Svensson is currently T12 at -12, but seeing him rise into the top ten wouldn’t be surprising. Bettors seeking a larger payout can also consider taking the 30-year-old to finish in the top five at +2000 odds.
